The Eurovision Young Musicians |

The Eurovision Young Musicians, from 4 - 9 May, 2008, is an international classical music competition for young talent aged not over 19. This year marks the 14th edition of the event. The competition, held every two years, is open to all musical instruments that have a solo performance concerto written for them. The event is organised by the European Broadcasting Union’s Eurovision TV and will be produced in collaboration with the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation and the Wiener Festwochen (from 9 May - 15 June, 2008). The Final will be held in the City Hall Square (Rathausplatz) in Vienna, Austria. As in 2006, the Final of the Eurovision Young Musicians will be the Opening Ceremony of the Wiener Festwochen. |

Eurovision Young Musicians 2008 Greek Winner
Vienna 9 May, 2008 – Greek clarinet player Dionysios Grammenos was awarded the Eurovision Young Musician prize for his interpretation of the IV movement from the Concerto pour Clarinette et Orchestre by Jean Françaix. Dionysios Grammenos, 18 years old, took his first clarinet lessons at the age of eight at the Corfu Philharmonic. He is currently studying at the Athens Conservatory and will graduate next year. Dionysios has appeared as a soloist with many Greek Orchestras. He has performed in recitals and chamber music concerts all over Greece and was a first prize-winner in numerous Pan-Hellenic clarinet competitions.
