Eurovision TV Eurovision TV is the European Broadcasting Union's (EBU) television department. The EBU is the largest association of national broadcasters in the world. It serves 75 active Members in 56 countries in Europe, North Africa and the Middle East together with associate Members around the world. Eurovision TV provides networking within all genres of television production and establishes platforms for Members to exchange ideas, which may subsequently be developed into productions or co-productions. Some 75 co-productions are in development or production, providing approximately 1,900 hours of programming to Members annually. This includes animation, fiction, documentary series, special events and live competitions in the fields of arts and entertainment, whose highlight is the world-renowned Eurovision Song Contest. Oesterreichischer Runfunk / Austrian Broadcasting Corporation (ORF) The Austrian Broadcasting Corporation is the Austrian national public service broadcaster. It was founded in 1923 and is funded through a combination of television licence fees and revenue from some on-air advertising.
Wiener Festwochen (14 May - 20 June 2010)
The “Wiener Festwochen”, established in 1951, is one of the world´s leading cultural festivals. The programme – presented over six weeks in the months of May and June – includes opera, concerts, plays, performances, film series and exhibitions. Each year, over 200,000 visitors attend. The traditional kick-off of the Wiener Festwochen is the big opening gala on the Rathausplatz, the square in front of Vienna´s City Hall – a sure-fire highlight of the annual festival. This free-admission, open-air event against the backdrop of the festively illuminated City Hall attracts tens of thousands of spectators eager to enjoy the programmeof music. |
