About Emmanuel Tjeknavorian
16-year oldEmmanuel Tjeknavorian will play the violin at the competition after winningthrough from a field of 14 in the Austrian preselection. He was selected by afive-person jury to play the violin in this year’s competition.
Emmanuel Tjeknavorian was born in Vienna into a family of musicians. At the age of six he began playing the violin with Professor Haykazyan, and later studied with Professor Mkrtchyan and Professor Vinokurov. Currently he is studying at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna in the class of Professor Gerhard Schulz.
At the age of seven he made his debut with orchestra. Two years later he gave his first recital and became a scholar of the Vladimir Spivakov Foundation. Since then he has performed several times in different countries and has played as a soloist accompanied by orchestras such as the Chamber Orchestra 'Musica Viva' at the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatoire and the State Symphony Orchestra of Russia at the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall in Moscow. Emmanuel also performed in
the Moscow Kremlin at the festival 'Moscow meets friends' and participated in the chamber music workshop 'Making Music Together', which was organised by the Kronberg Academy.
He has been awarded several prizes in national and international competitions including the National Khachaturian Competition in Yerevan (Armenia), National Prima la Musica Competition in Salzburg, the International Nutcracker Competition in Moscow, the International violin Competition Andrea Postacchini in Fermo (Italy) and the International Johannes Brahms Competition in Pörtschach
(Austria). As the winner of the Musica Juventutis Competition he will give a recital at the Vienna Konzerthaus in the 2012-13 season.
