About Raul Maria Dignola
Raul made his stage debut when he was just six years old - playing the song of Otello and Desdemona in Verdi's opera "Otello" - and took part in many events as part of a children's choir when he was young for seven years, during which time he also started to play the French horn.
Born on 30 September 1999 at Lago Maggiore in North Italy, Raul moved to Hannover aged six. Initially wanting to play the trumpet when aged eight, Raul realised he didn't quite like how it sounded and began searching for another instrument - eventually settling on the French horn a year later.
In 2009 Raul won the "Jugend Musiziert' competition, and has gone on to take the title several times since including getting full marks at the 2015 event. He was awarded the title of the "Best Upcoming Hornist" at the 2014 "Lions-Musikpreis", and has a scholarship from the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben. Currently he is taught by Jan Golebiowski (Dortmund Philharmonics), and also regularly by Prof. Thomas Hauschild in Leipzig. He will begin studying the French horn at the Felix Mendelssohn Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Leipzig later this year, having completed four years of study at the "Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien Hannover" in a programme for highly gifted musicians aged 13-16,
Since January of last year, Raul has been a member of the German Youth Orchestra with which he has toured through the country.
