Berlin, Germany -

It's less than a month until Eurovision Young Musicians returns for the 2016 - but what of the participants from two years ago? We find out...

Taking part in Eurovision Young Musicians two years ago for Norway was Sonoko Miriam Shimano Welde. Now 20 years old, and living in another country, we caught up with Sonoko Miriam to see how the event helped in her musical journey.

"Playing in Eurovision Young Musicians helped me get more recognition, especially in Norway," says Sonoko Miriam of her 2014 experience in Cologne, from which she has gone on to study with two former participants in Germany "I study in Berlin now, at the same conservatory as Sara and Albin, which is very nice".

However these are not the only two former participants that Sonoko Miriam has met again since Cologne, as she tells us: "Lucie (Horsch, Netherands) and I actually performed together several times last year, one of which was in Amsterdam" she tells us. Check out the video of their performance:

"Some cool things I have been able to do since Eurovision Young Musicians are performing with orchestras like the Oslo Philharmonic, Bergen Philharmonic and Norwegian Radio Orchestra," says Miriam, before revealing something very big that happened earlier this year. "Something crazy happened in April. I got to step in and replace Christian Tetzlaff in a concert in the Norwegian Opera, and play a Brahms quartet with Leif Ove Andsnes, Tabea Zimmermann and Clemens Hagen, all musical heroes of mine!".

And lastly, some words of advice from a former participant to this year's competitors? "Enjoy playing outside in front of lots of people. It's very cool!"
