Berlin, Germany -

We continue our catch-up series with the participants of 2014 with Sweden's Albin Uusijärvi.

"I remember being really nervous during the days leading up to the final, but when the day arrived it was like the nerves disappeared, turning into more of a state of focus and excitement," says Albin, who represented Sweden in 2014 at the age of 19. "I will also never forget the view of the huge audience as I entered the stage in Cologne. It was an incredible feeling playing there!"

Sweden returned to the competition in 2012 after an absence, and will again take part this year. For Albin, it was the start of further moves in his musical career. "Since EYM, I have moved to Berlin where I two years ago started my Bachelor studies at "Hanns Eisler Hochschule für Musik". There I have played a lot of concerts, for example with the Orchestra Academy of the Berlin Philharmonic" he tells us.

Is he still in contact with any of the other participants from back then? "Yes, I’m still in contact with some of them!" says Albin. "Both Sara Domjanic and Sonoko Miriam Shimano Welde study together with me in Berlin."

Finally, what would Albin say to those taking part in this year's event in Cologne? "My main advice might be cliché, but it would have to be to just enjoy the moment and have fun! Its not every day you get to play with such an amazing orchestra and together with such talented young musicians."
