Slovenia has been participating in Eurovision Young Musicians since 1994 and won the competition in 2010. This year 18 year old cellist Zala Vidic will represent Slovenia at the 2016 event in Cologne.

Zala, who was born in Ljubljana in 1998, started her musical career at the age of six and currently studies at the Ljubljana Music and Ballet Conservatory where in her first year, she performed as a soloist with the Symphonic Orchestra. In order to remain at the top of her game, Zala is constantly perfecting her knowledge through seminars and attends summer courses with renowned professors.

"My favourite composer is Antonin Dvorak and my musicians of choice are the 12 cellists of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra", she says. Zala's most joyful experience was when she first played solo. "I would also like to travel one day. I plan to visit London because it's a big city".
