Cologne, Germany -

This year 17 year old pianist Eliot Nordqvist will represent Sweden in Eurovision Young Musicians in Cologne. Eliot was born in Stockholm in March 1999 and began playing the piano at the age of four. By eight he was composing his own work before going on to study music professionally. We met him shortly after he finished rehearsing his piece with WDR's orchestra.

Eliot will perform Saint-Saën's second piano concerto, first movement, in Eurovision Young Musicians. Eliot explained why he enjoys playing the piano so much. "As a composer I love playing the piano because it is like an orchestra. You can make different sounds, it's not just a piano, it can be a violin quartet, it can be anything", he said.

Eliot is enjoying the opportunity to play with WDR's orchestra as well as meeting the other contestants. "It's a big achievement; playing the piano in this competition, representing my country, playing with this super orchestra, it's a lot", he added.
