After listening to fourteen young classical musicians at the Austrian preselection, ORF's appointed jury has decided to send Emmanuel Tjeknavorian to the 2012 Eurovision Young Musicians competition. He will compete on home ground during the competition in May, which will take place as part of the Wiener Festwochen.

Austria have selected their entrant for the 2012 Eurovision Young Musicians competition. 16-year old Emmanuel Tjeknavorian will play the violin at the competition after winning through from a field of 14 in the Austrian preselection.

A jury consisting of Raimund Langner, Ranko Markovic, Maighréad McCrann, Christian Scheib and Elke Tschaikner heard performances from all fourteen of the young artists in the Austrian final, before deciding on Emmanuel Tjeknavorian as the winner.

Emmanuel Tjeknavorian comes from a musical family, as currently studies in Vienna. He made his performing debut aged just seven, and since then has gone on to win various national and international competitions.
