ZAGREB -

Croatia have selected their third violinist in the history of their participation in Eurovision Young Musicians, and will be hoping to make the final again as they did in 2010. Their hopes rest on Katarina Kutnar, who was selected in front of 1500 people in a national selection last week.

Croatian broadcaster HRT will send Katarina Kutnar to represent them at the 2012 Eurovision Young Musicians competition in Vienna this May. Katarina, who is 16 and plays the violin, was selecyed by a specialist jury after a show in front of 1500 people was held to determine the Croatian representative.

The national final, which was held last Wednesday 22 February, saw cellist Latica Anić (17), pianist Andreas Domjanić (16), violinist Tvrtko Emanuel Galić (18), violinist Katarina Kutnar (16), accordionist Marko Matić (17), percussionist Šimun Matišić (15) and guitarist Lovro Peretić (16) all perform for the right to go to Vienna. They were accompanied by the Croatian Radio Television Symphonic Orchestra, under the baton of maestro Mladen Tarbuk.

After all of the musicians had performed, and following a guest appearance from 2010 representative Filip Merčep, the specialist jury headed by composer Silvio Foretić decided that it would be Katarina Kutnar who will go on to represent her country.
