The Netherlands have picked Ella van Poucke as their representative in this year's Eurovision Young Musicians. Ella won out of a national final over three other participants, all of whom were girls, which was held at the Stadsgehoorzaal in Leiden.

Dutch broadcaster NTR have become the latest participants to select their entry for the 2012 Eurovision Young Musicians competition, the final of which takes place in Vienna in just over a month's time.

Tonight's national final saw four candiatates take part: Dana de Vries (Cello), Ella van Poucke (Cello), Gile Bae (Piano) and Svenja Staats (Violin). After each had performed, Dana and Ella were voted through to the 'super final' by the jury. After the two girls had performed again, the jury consisting on Pianist Paolo Giacometti, Larissa Groeneveld and Sven Arne Tepl decided that it would be Ella van Poucke who will represent The Netherlands in Vienna.

Born in Amsterdam, Ella began playing the cello at age six and studied at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague and then at the Conservatory of Amsterdam. In recent years Ella has performed a soloist in major concert halls in the Netherlands and abroad. In 2008 she won first prize at the Princess Christina Concours. Together with her brother Nicolas, Ella founded a chamber music festival in Amsterdam in 2010 named "EllaNi Chamber Music Festival".
