Eurovision Young Musicians is coming to Edinburgh in 2018!

The 2018 edition of Eurovision Young Musicians is scheduled to take place in Edinburgh on from 16-24 August. The 19th edition of the event will be hosted by BBC Scotland and BBC Radio 3. The full list of participants will be published in early 2018.

Eurovision Young Musicians began in 1982 and has gone on to become one of the most important classical competitions on an international level. The biennial competition for young, talented musicians has been an important and effective tool for fostering the careers of promising, talented musicians in Europe, by allowing them to perform to the widest possible audience.

The last edition of Eurovision Young Musicians took place in Cologne in September 2016. Poland's Łukasz Dyczko has won the 2016 edition of the competition. The young saxophonist performed Waignein's Rhapsody pour Saxophone alto. Robert Bílý, representing the Czech Republic, finished in second place whilst Dominik Wagner representing Austria finished third.

The 2018 will mark the first time that Eurovision Young Musicians has been held in Scotland and the first time that the contest has returned to the United Kingdom since the inaugural edition was held in Manchester in 1982.
