Cologne, Germany -

One participant in this year’s Eurovision Young Musicians competition will have home advantage. Judith Stapf from Germany will not only be in her own country when she takes to the stage on 31 May, but almost in her own back yard as well!

Selected internally by broadcaster WDR to represent Germany this year, Judith hails from Rheinback which is less than 50km away from the venue of this year’s grand final. As one of the older contestants in this year’s competition, she brings with her some 14 years’ worth of experience playing the violin.

I'm very excited and very happy! And it's a great honour to play there” says Judith, about taking part in this year’s competition.

One thing that won’t be an issue for Judith will be packing – and which is lucky, because she’s going to be rather busy before the final! “It's always interesting to visit other countries for concerts or competitions, but in this case it's perfect because I have a concert in the ‘Kölner Philharmonie’ two days before...and the 31 May is my birthday so I’m glad to have all my friends with me.”

So whatever happens on 31 May, Judith will already have reason to celebrate - her 17th birthday!
