Malta makes its Eurovision Young Musicians debut this year in Cologne, and has selected its first ever representative!

Kurt Aquilina has been chosen internally by Maltese broadcaster PBS to represent the island this year in Cologne. The 18-year old guitarist hails from Zabbar in the east of the island.

Kurt has been playing guitar since he was 11 years old, and has also managed to teach himself skills on the electric guitar as well!

In his early musical days, Kurt was inspired by guitar virtuosi Joe Satriani and Steve Vai. Johann Sebastian Bach was also an inspiration for Kurt. Over the past few years he has taken part in many concerts in Malta, including the 2013 ‘Rockestra’ - a National Local Event organised by the President of Malta for charity.
