Cologne, Germany -

Albin Uusijärvi is representing Sweden this year in Eurovision Young Musicians. Sweden have entered several times and managed to win the contest once in 2006, Albin hopes to follow in the footsteps of winning Cellist Andreas Brantelid, performing on his viola.

In Tuesday’s pre-round Albin performed two pieces which were: Cologne born composer Max Bruch’s Romanze Op. 25 as well as Gigue from Partita No.2 by J S Bach. In the final Albin will perform the second movement of William Walton’s Viola Concerto with the WDR Symphony Orchestra under the baton of our conductor Kristiina Poska.

We caught up with Albin after his first rehearsal with the orchestra and before his pre-round performance to find out more about the man behind the viola, his performances in a special cocktail bar and his Eurovision Young Musicians Experience.
