Meet Livyka Shtirbu-Sokolov from Moldova

Livyka Shtirbu-Sokolov is representing Moldova this year in Eurovision Young Musicians. Livyka is the first ever Young Musicians entrant for Moldova and will performing on piano.

In the pre-round on Tuesday Livyka performed three pieces which were: Prelude and Fugue No.2 A Minor op.87 by Dimitri Shostakovich, Novelette No.3 by Francis Poulenc, Rodion Shchedri’s Sonata No.1 and Valse Op. 64 No.2 by Frederic Chopin. For the final Livyka is performing an especially composed piano concerto by her father Liviu Shtribu with the WDR Symphony Orchestra under the baton of our conductor Kristiina Poska.

We interviewed Livyka after her first rehearsal with the orchestra and before her performance in the pre-round of the competition. We spoke to Livyka to find out about her passion for the piano, her hopes and dreams for her career and about her Eurovision Young Musicians Experience.
