Norway has participated in Eurovision Young Musicians since the competition began in 1982. The country hosted the event in Bergen's Greig Hall in 2000, the same venue where the 1986 Eurovision Song Contest was held. Norway has been in the top three on five separate occasions and in 2012 violinist Eivind Holtsmark Ringstad won the contest. This year Norway's hopes rest on 17 year old violinist Ludwig Gudim.

Ludvig was born in February 1999 in Oslo, Norway. He started playing the violin at the age of five. From 2007 he was a student at the Barratt Due Institute of Music and in 2013 he travelled to New York City and participated in the Perlman Music Program, a summer programme for gifted young musicians.

He has performed with the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra, Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, Trondheim Symphony Orchestra, Brussels Chamber Orchestra, Vietnam National Symphonic Orchestra, Trondheim Soloists, Oslo Camerata and the Royal Norwegian Navy Band. However he still has one dream to fulfil; "My dream is to perform with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra in the Berliner Philharmonie", he says.

Asked about his most joyful experience, Ludvig finds it difficult to select one in particular. "It's difficult, there are several. One is when I got the violin I'm playing at the moment. Another is my debut with the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra in 2015 as well as when I played chamber music with Steven Isserlis at the Kronberg Academy earlier this year".

In his spare time Ludvig enjoys travelling, his destination of choice is Vietnam. "I have been there twice, but only to Hanoi and Ho Chi MInh City. I would love to see more of this beautiful country". Perhaps that's where he will head to after he has participated in Eurovision Young Musicians!
