Hungary returned to Eurovision Young Musicians in 2014 and took third place - how will this year's contestant fair in Cologne?

Representing the country this year is 17-year old violinist Roland Attila Jakab, who will turn 18 shortly before the competition takes place. Roland was born in Targu Mures, a town in the north-central region of Romania. Targu Mures has a large Hungarian-speaking population, of which Roland is one, and he has been part of the Philharmonic Orchestra there as a soloist for nine years.

Roland, who comes from a musical family, started playing the violin aged seven when he started playing his father's. This year in Hungary's popular show "Virtuosok" Roland was one of the three finalists in his age group.

Roland has also taken part for 11 years in regional competitions in Transylvania, and has always scored top marks when taking part!
